What We Believe

As a church family, Auburn Christian Church is an independent, non-denominational church that has roots in the Restoration Movement.
Take a moment to check out the basic core of what we believe as followers of Jesus Christ.

The Bible

We have established basic beliefs based on the Bible which is accurate and reliable, written under direct inspiration from God, and is completely authoritative for all Christians. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Hebrews 4:12-13)

God

We believe one true God, eternally existing as Father, Son and Holy Spirit created the universe giving humans dominion by his good pleasure. (Genesis 1 & 2; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1,14; John 14:26; 1 Peter 1:2)

Jesus

We believe God’s great gift to humanity Jesus, his only begotten Son, born of a virgin, sinless, to die voluntarily on the cross for our sins, bodily raised from death, ascended into heaven, will return to earth to initiate the consummation of human history. (John 1:1-18; John 3:16; Acts 2:22-41; Philippians 2:1-11)

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit provides power to overcome sin, gives insight into Scripture, and personal direction in life. All believers are given the gift of the Holy Spirit at conversion as well as certain gifts to use in ministry. The Spirit’s presence in a believer’s life demonstrates it’s presence through by the fruit of the Spirit. (Luke 11:13; John 16:13; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:11, Galatians 5)

Salvation

God is the author of our salvation. It is only by his grace that we can be saved. Responding in obedience to what Christ has done, we act upon the faith God has given. We are called to respond by repenting of our sinning, claiming Jesus as Lord, and being obedient in baptism by immersion. (Hebrews 2:10; John 3:16; Acts 2:38; Romans 3:23, 10:9; Ephesians 2:7-10; 1 John 1:9)

Human Destiny

We believe that everyone will live forever after they die. Non-believers will be separated from God’s presence for all eternity in hell. Believers will be received into heaven to be with God for all eternity. (John 3:36, 14:1-3; Matthew 25:31-46; 2 Peter 3:11-13; Revelation 20:11-15, 21:1-8 )

Church

We believe God desires for unity in the Church. This unity is fostered by the plea “In essentials, unity; in nonessentials, liberty; in all things, charity.” God calls and empowers every member of the Church as a minister to serve the lost, hurting, and marginalized fulfilling Jesus mission under the direction of local elders. (Acts 2; Matthew 28:19; John 17; Ephesians 4:1-6; 2 Corinthians 5:20; Galatians 6:2,10; Matthew 10:42; James 2:17-18; 1Peter 2:12; 1Timothy 5:17; Titus 1:5; 1Peter 2:9; Revelation 5:10)

Auburn Christian Church (ACC), though autonomous, is affiliated with a fellowship of over 6,000 similar non-denominational churches nationwide in what historians call the Restoration Movement. These churches combine their efforts to support church planting organizations, missionaries, benevolent associations, and Christian Colleges and Seminaries.
